Deliveroo Moped Rider Recruitment

Client: Hype Collective/Deliveroo

A set of videos published on paid socials as part of a recruitment drive for Deliveroo focussing on moped and motorcycle riders.

Working through from the initial creative, we developed a brief where our rider ‘Bob’ was being pitted against a motorbiking influencer in a ‘Top Gear style competition’ to see who could earn the most money in a 24 hour period. This was later adjusted after the shoot to a more friendly competition between two friends.

In addition to the main 60 second hero, three 10 second stings were created reusing the same footage, each delivering a main point of the recruitment campaign. The videos were issued as both vertical and square aspect ratios.

I worked up the initial brief solo, and developed the VO script with Jimmy Dance. I then lead and directed a 3 man team for the shoot, with Kam Slawik on camera, and with Jimmy as DP. I was then fully responsible for the edit.

Development

The project went through many stages of development due to changes in Deliveroo’s content plan and leadership.

Following on from initial concept development, story boards and a full creative treatment was produced alongside scripts, at all stages seeking and ataining sign off.

Ahead of the shoot, an animatic was produced to give the videographer and talent a good sense of what was needed. A hero video was then produced following this and the original CT with some slight adjustments to deal with flow issues highlighted in the animatic.

Following submission of the hero video, it was requested that the video be reworked to have less of a focus on competition, becoming the more friendly version that became final.
